CS-150

The Konica Minolta CS-150 is a highly accurate spot luminance meter (luminance colorimeter) designed for measuring the brightness and color of small-area light sources, displays, and illuminated surfaces. The CS-150 luminance meter features a through-the-lens (TTL) SLR viewfinder that allows precise aiming and focusing on the exact measurement area, ensuring accurate measurement of small targets even at long distances. The CS-150 measures luminance (cd/m²), chromaticity (x, y), and correlated color temperature (CCT) simultaneously, with an extremely small acceptance angle of 1° for high-spatial-resolution measurements. The CS-150 is ideal for measuring LED indicators, display pixels, automotive instrument panels, luminous signage, and any small luminous source where precise brightness and color data is required.

Measurement Principle of the CS-150 Luminance Meter

The CS-150 uses a TTL SLR optical system to focus on the measurement target. The measurement area is defined by a field stop in the image plane, ensuring precise 1° acceptance angle regardless of target distance. Light from the measurement area passes through a beam splitter to three silicon photodiodes with CIE color matching function filters (x̄, ȳ, z̄), providing simultaneous luminance and chromaticity measurement. The focusing lens system allows sharp focus from 1m to infinity, enabling measurement of small targets at various distances.

Applications of the CS-150 Luminance Meter

Display Measurement

Luminance and color uniformity of LCD, OLED, LED displays, and digital signage.

Automotive Lighting

Luminance of instrument panel indicators, switches, ambient lighting, and exterior lighting.

LED Characterization

Brightness and color of individual LEDs, LED arrays, and indicator lights.

Signage and Wayfinding

Luminance compliance of illuminated signs, exit signs, and safety lighting.

Q: What is the smallest area the CS-150 can measure?

A: At 1° acceptance angle, the measurement spot depends on distance. At 1m, the spot is approximately 12mm diameter. At longer distances, the spot grows proportionally but the luminance value remains accurate.

Q: Can the CS-150 measure displays?

A: Yes, the CS-150 is widely used for display luminance and color measurement, including sub-pixel level measurements when used at close distances.
